I was served haggis on a vegetarian breakfast & staff were absolutely not fussed. They had to be prompted by me to take my food meal off the bill, didn't offer any sort of explanation/resolution. They advertise that they have vegan options, but don't have basic things like non dairy milk available.
I honestly think Butlins in the 1980s would have fared better.

Appalling customer service.
Staying at one of the lodges on site with 6 guests. Arrived at the restaurant after booking in advanced online.
The girl at the desk at reception called Tabatha, blonde hair and piercings.
She told us they have no booking and no space to take us. After showing the booking confirmation she said it shouldn't let you book and there's a problem with the booking system.
Very rude and unapologetic
A number of tables can be seen empty without reserve signs on them and she said it's because of the kitchen and how many tables they can sit.
After getting short answers and no apology we went to the takeaway next door, which shared the same kitchen and has some of the same items on the menu. We ordered all 6 meals and told it'll be a 30 minute wait. Fair enough. Whilst waiting another customer came in to complain about his burger. The staff again were very aggressive and standoffish. One girl was sitting on a chair at the side of the counter not working but decided to shout back at the customer.
Staff really need some customer service training and some decent manners.
Following day we went to order milkshakes. The guy behind the counter this time was very pleasant but so slow. No urgency and turned out to be making Tabatha a milkshake while customers were waiting. We were told it'll be 15 minutes for 2 milkshakes, as there was 2 customers ahead of us. It doesn't take 15 minutes to make 4 milkshakes. Need urgent intervention because we walked away without ordering and you lost our sale.
Zero customer service, zero urgency, zero manners. Guests and lodge owners are paying a lot of money and the restaurant and takeaway are a massive let down. Not to mention the general tiredness of the whole place. Pool table has tears in the felt, gym was messy and boiling hot. Won't be back

Eating out at The View was absolutely awful. A full catalogue of errors within 20 mins of being seated. I would not ever recommend The View to anyone. At 7pm the menu already had at least 6 items not available plus we were told very low in roast potatoes. Not one dish we ordered came as it should have. My 13 year old grandson is coeliac and he was left humiliated over the careless handling of his meal. Total incompetence all round. A nightmare from start to finish.

Service were great, friendly and cannot be faulted. Environment and restaurant decor was nice. Food was poor. I'm someone who will give a place a chance despite the reviews, but the negative reviews here are right. Meat in roast was fridge temperature and "creamy" pasta came with no sauce whatsoever. Also numerous menu items were out of stock despite it being the start of the night. Replies to these reviews sound as though they're considering feedback carefully, but it seems evident that they are not taking action and making changes. Food quality lets the lovely overall hotel down.

We had a great meal here to finish off our stay in one of the lodges. The food was good, with a decent variety on the menu. We were served by Calum, who made it even better with friendly and attentive service, and made us feel very welcome in the restaurant

Unfortunately the majority of our party didn’t finish their meals. My food was very bland and it ended feeling like very bad value for money.

Would not order from here again. The food portions are tiny especially the chips and they don't even taste good for the price. If you are hungry just travel somewhere further to get something worth your money.

Visited for dinner when staying at the hotel. Very limited gluten free options with a requirement to look at an allergen book. Menu says “gfo” for code however none of the dishes on the menu have it next to them. Very frustrating considering there aren’t many places nearby for an evening meal. Staff are very lovely and chatty, just very disappointing with the limited choices and my food was also disappointing.

100% recommend. You won’t find staff more friendly than here, especially the manager Carl. They were exceptionally attentive, which made the evening very enjoyable.

The food was okay but around the same kind of standard as a Wetherspoons, burgers a little dry and not much flavour. One order was missing an item, when the waitress was told this she continued walking around for a while before informing kitchen staff to rectify the issue. The restaurant is dog friendly which is a plus but be prepared to be sat in the dark area away from the windows/view (it would be nice to be able to have a bite to eat in the other dog friendly area only a couple of metres away!). Overall if you’re looking at the review you’re probably going to end up eating here anyway as there is nothing else locally but I wouldn’t expect any more than chain style food at a slightly increased price.

Our second night at Drimsynie and we decided to have a takeaway. Ordered 2 fish suppers, pizza and bacon and cheese loaded fries.fish suppers got a thumbs-up but unfortunately couldn't say the same about the pizza and fries, pizza was burnt black at the crusts and it was so dry as hardly had any topping. The chips were one solid block..yuck,we wish they had been like the chips that you got with the supper and not skinny fries.I assume it was an inexperienced cook that cooked them as there is no way a chef would let food like this leave his kitchen.

We went in for a meal during a weekend stay and didn't have the best experience of the food to say the least. One of us had a small caterpillar in the side salad that came with the meal. It wasn't noticed until near the end of the meal which made things worse. Really disgusting and made us question hygiene practices in the kitchen for all the food we'd eaten. The 2 stars are for the view from the restaurant and the waitress who was really apologetic, lovely and made sure we didn't pay for the meal.

Food was amazing, was an issue with some dietary requirements but our server Liv did everything for us and was so amazing and helpful, she went beyond her duties and I could not have asked for a better server, thank you for everything you did for us x

SHAMBLES OF A PLACE
You can’t book in for the restaurant so you have to wait for an hour to get a table. They don’t care if you have kids or anything ended up with dinner at 8.45 with a 2 and 6 year old! And finally when your ready to order your meal and they turn up say they don’t have the meal they show on the menu. Place is absolutely ruined. Plan your meals if you stay at the lodges.. stay away from restaurant !!!

Extremely disorganised mess.
I'm writing this review as we wait for a table. A table we should have had 180 minutes ago.
When we checked in at reception, we asked if we needed to book the restaurant. "No, you just turn up" was the answer.
We showed up at 16:50, knowing they opened at 17:00 (my wife is heavily pregnant and getting pretty hangry. Meal timing is out the window). We asked if we could get a table, and were told, to come back at 17:00. Fair enough; that's when they open after all.
17:00: We were told there had been a couple of large tables booked, and that they were neither letting people in or taking reservations. We should come back at 17:30.
17:30, we were told they weren't ready, and to come back at 18:00. 8 months pregnant wife is pretty ratty by this point, and I'm not exactly over-joyed either.
18:00 we arrive again as requested and the restaurant is packed. All the tables are occupied. We are told that "there will be quite a wait" and to take a seat in the waiting area. I explain the above sequence of events, the man doesn't look surprised, or like he cares, and just tells us to "wait over there".
19:00 we are still waiting. No sign that we will be seated soon as groups who queued before us aren't seated yet.
Extremely disorganised mess, poor communication, nobody cares. Would highly recommend you avoid this restaurant unless you have no other option.
The staff they have here look panicked, get flustered, and talk to you impatiently when the queue at the bar reaches 6 people.
To be fair to them, the food might be good but I can't comment on that yet. We wish we'd gone somewhere else.

I see since our visit nothing has changed in terms of service. Came up for a hen do and as the view has the monopoly this was the only place for dinner. We were seated and then it took a wee bit of time for our order to be taken for drinks so we thought we would order everything together. Our starters came relatively quickly however the mains were a different matter. Not one person even explained there was a bit of wait and after arriving at 7pm we eventually got our main course at 9pm! Not one of the staff scanned the room to see who was finished or came to our table to ask if we wanted drinks or even said there would be a delay with the mains. If you have big trays use them to clear the tables! Don’t make 6 trips back and forth a lot of people just wandering around and again not looking up to any tables! Shocking service from the younger staff absolutely no clue about decent service and not one of them was welcoming. The issue I think must be with the kitchen as I visited 2 weeks ago and it took AN HOUR to get our food which was chips and cheese and the tattie scone nachos I mean come on?
Nothing has changed from the last 1 star reviews. It really ruined our celebration.
Toby and Any @cove there’s no need for a generic response as clearly your efforts are in vain. Try sending someone from your team as a mystery diner and you’ll see what it’s like.

sat waiting for over an hour before the drinks were even brought out never mind the food! we had 2 young kids with us that never recieved any food because after waiting for over an hour and a half we walked out.
overpriced food for absolutely ridiculous service!!!! feel sorry for the staff as the place obviously takes to many bookings then cant provide half decent service or good waiting times.

We ate at the view restauarant 3 times during our stay, and were disappointed with all three. We went down to breakfast on the first morning staying here, no interaction led to a table, menus sat down and the waiter walked away. Breakfast was okay, however my husband ordered the big Scottish breakfast, the menu stated "fried, poached or scrambled egg" wasnt asked how he would like his eggs and there was no toast as stated in the menu. No check backs to see how food was, tables weren't cleared and we ended up going to the bar to pay for the Pepsi that was not included with breakfast, which was flat. Staff looked miserable. We mentioned that the same 40 seconds of a song had been playing on a loop the whole duration of our breakfast, the staff member laughed and shrugged. Having worked in hospitality previously we both found it pretty shocking.
Went to the boatshed cafe, 7 minutes up the road and got some decent customer service which was so nice after the breakfast we received. Decided we didn't want to eat in The View restaurant for dinner after the breakfast, we looked online realised there was nothing in the area and decided to walk to The Goil, not realising it was owned by the same company. Got there the Goil restaurant wasn't open, no one told us that, nor was there signs at Drimsynie. Decided to have a drink and walk back. At this point we had no other choice than to go to The View restaurant. We were seated by a lovely blonde girl who actually spoke to us, we were in shock but then ultimately served by the same miserable waiters as breakfast. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered the mac and cheese. It's pretty hard to go wrong with mac and cheese, but the garlic bread came out burnt. Asked the waiter for another can of juice and a replacement as he passed, to which he just nodded and walked away.
My husband said the garlic bread would likely come out after I finished my mac and cheese, I joked that the juice would be the same. I wasn't wrong. It took about 20 minutes for a can of juice to be brought to the table.
My husbands burger was burnt, and the chips were cold. He didn't finish the burger and we sat and waited for a waiter to come by to mention it being burnt. No one came near us. No plates were cleared, no desert offered, no bill offered. We joked that if we didn't stay at the hotel we could have walked out and no one would have noticed. We went to the bar and paid, and left deciding it wasn't worth the aggravation to even try and talk to someone. I wish we had walked out without paying because that food was not worth the money we paid for it.
The next morning we went down to breakfast (we only had breakfast here because it was included) in all honesty otherwise we would have went back to the boatshed. I ordered the big breakfast this time as an experiment, wasn't asked how I wanted my eggs and wasn't given toast. If you don't want to include it, remove it from the menu. Asked the waitress about the toast, and she rolled her eyes (same girl that laughed and shrugged about the music). My husband had the pancakes, the menu stated streaky bacon - it was the same bacon included in the fry up and the pancakes were soggy.
It feels very much like the staff do not want to interact with you, with a few exceptions. The general reception is cold and unwelcoming.
The hotel itself is in such a stunning location with incredible views and nice rooms. The staff and the restaurant really let you down.

We should have checked recent reviews before we booked and it’s a shame this is the only place within the area for food, genuinely terrible. Wrong orders and poor quality food along with exceptionally bad customer service. The experience could have been comical but it’s really overpriced. We walked out laughing feeling like we had been pranked 😂 Please avoid for your own sake

We had a terrible experience this weekend here. Firstly, we had a table booked for 14 since September for an 80th birthday celebration and the service in here ruined our night. They told us they never had our booking and ended up moving us tables twice to which the manager and a staff member jokingly said to eachother wow you could have told me you were using my big table and they laughed as we walked past them. We were also left waiting with our plates on the table and they brought the cake out that we brought whilst the table was still full. Breakfast service this morning was just as bad, half of our table still waiting for drinks half way through eating breakfast they got 3 orders wrong twice. Both experiences totally ruined our lovely family holiday as this is the only place to dine in at Drimsynie.

What has happened to this place
Total let down
Arrived for our table had to go to the bar to ask to order drinks then they can’t ro eveentually take our order my daughter was served with brick hard re heated chicken nuggets and myself and husband were served with greasy fish and chips
I had to laugh out loud. I was served with 5 chips and he had a plate full.
Total shambles
To top it off
In the middle of my daughter coloring in a picture we managed to go find at the craft section
A woman from the restaurant approached our table didn’t speak a word or acknowledge us and lift the 4 crayons my 4 year old was using and I says excuse me could you put them back down I says why would you lift them says I was cleaning up !!!
I says we haven’t even had our meals yet !!
Absolute shambolic
What a let down and change in and once great place
If it wasn’t bad enough waiting an hour passed check in for our keys then having to deal with this
Avoid !!

Me and my girlfriend came here for a evening meal. Took a long time to get served once eventually seated. My food was burnt and partners seemed like a very average ready meal at best. Ordered an extra drink which never came and still got charged for it, we tried to sort this with one waitress who was far from happy to help. She slammed the receipt on the table and rolled her eyes trying to sort the refund out. When she did get the refund , we ended up getting charged yet again for the drink we never got and still under changed. Overall not the best experience at all, would not return which is a shame as it has such potential with the beautiful view and nice restaurant.

2023 update: Tried to go for lunch today (Su day) only to be told that the kitchen closes at 2:30. Best to make sure when the kitchen is open. Also, dogs appear to be welcome.e everywhere in The View now.
Great carvery on a Sunday as you see and the cooked a couple of sausages for my dog. The view from the view is great, but not for those who have dogs with them, so I can't share any recent photos of the loch and hills.
FYI: I asked for no potatoes, and they gave me 2 Yorkshire Puddings! The food was delicious, the vegetablescooked just so and very tasty..
We generally come early and it took some time to order which is why it is not 5 stars.

Very disappointed visit by son, cousin and 2 friends who were guests at lodge for weekend. Arrived for dinner 23rd Sept. Order taken for drinks waited half hour and had to be sent back as lager flat due to being left on bar before served to table. The food order taken when eventually arrived after a further long wait, wrong food served, plain burger had everything on it and was a chicken burger not beef, a curry arrived that hadnt been ordered and then when staff realised error 5 mins later was taken away. One meal served at a time and kept making excuse the kitchen waa busy Bill had to queried and service was not what as owners we have experienced in the past. Granted it was busy due to being September weekend but clearly not enough staff to cope and it showed that evening.resulting in wrong orders, lukewarm food and flat lager. Bad experience.

Such a shame that the quality of food has been so poor this summer. On my last visit we sent our meal back twice. The drinks order was incorrect also. I used the contact page on your Facebook to ask for a food and beverage manager to contact me. I also rang switchboard and left my details too. There was no one to speak to on the night. This was 17th June and still no response! With The Goil Inn stopping food shortly I think it’s such a shame that The View is pretty much the choice for dining in. We work at a local guest house and we will not recommend The View to the guests.

It looks decent from a distance. Once someone could be bothered speaking to us waiting I kind of wish they never bothered. The girl was condescending and obnoxious. No thank you.
